RIRI zippers
Why LAMIRAL chose Riri
In Switzerland, Riri has been developing fastening systems since 1936 that have become a benchmark for the most demanding leather goods and fashion houses.
At LAMIRAL, certain details are almost invisible when the object is resting.
Yet they take on their full importance as soon as you use it.
Opening a bag. Closing a case. Sliding a zipper thousands of times throughout its life.
This movement must remain precise, fluid, and natural.
It is for this reason that we have chosen to work with Riri.
A Swiss history since 1936
The Riri story began in 1936, in Switzerland, with one ambition: to perfect a seemingly very simple mechanism, the zipper.
Over the decades, the house has developed a particular expertise in fastening systems intended notably for fashion, leather goods, and technical applications.
This specialization has made Riri a familiar name in the workshops and houses for which the quality of a component cannot be dissociated from that of the finished product.
At LAMIRAL, this philosophy speaks to us particularly: focusing on a detail until it becomes a true craft.
The precision you can feel
The quality of a fastener is not judged solely by its appearance.
It is felt.
In the regularity of its movement. In the way the teeth engage. In the resistance of the slider. In that sensation of fluidity found with every opening.
For our creations, we have notably selected Riri fasteners with brass elements, whose presence accords naturally with the leathers and other metal parts we use.
The metal brings both robustness, character, and that particular sensation provided by a component designed to last.
A movement repeated thousands of times
On a bag or on our cigar case, the fastener is one of the most used mechanical elements.
It is precisely for this reason that we refuse to consider it a simple accessory.
A beautiful hide can last for decades. The construction of the object can be flawless. But its longevity also depends on the quality of each of its functional parts.
Choosing Riri is therefore making a choice that might not be immediately noticeable in a photograph.
But one that you understand from the very first use.
From Switzerland to our workshop in Graulhet
Riri fasteners then join our workshop in Graulhet, in the Tarn, where they are integrated into our creations by our artisans.
They then meet the leathers selected from our partner tanneries and the metal accessories chosen for each model.
It is this assembly of expertise that we seek at LAMIRAL.
We do not claim to know how to manufacture everything.
We prefer to identify houses that excel in their craft and bring their skills together within a single object.
Leather from our tanners. Brass accessories from Poursin. Fastening systems from Riri. Leatherworking in our Graulhet workshop.
Excellence even in the invisible
It would obviously be simpler to consider a fastener a standard component.
We have made the opposite choice.
Because in our eyes, luxury does not consist of concentrating attention only on what is seen. It consists of applying the same standard to every element, including those for which the customer may never know the manufacturer.
That is precisely why we work with Riri.
So that a movement as simple as opening a bag or a case also provides a sensation of quality.
Because true quality is not just looked at. It is felt, with every use.
