Poursin House

Nearly two centuries of expertise. Discover Maison Poursin, whose brass buckles and accessories accompany LAMIRAL creations.

La Maison Poursin

Why LAMIRAL chose Maison Poursin

In Paris, Maison Poursin has been crafting buckles, rings, and metal accessories for saddlery and leather goods for nearly two centuries.

At LAMIRAL, we place as much importance on the most visible elements of a creation as we do on those that are barely noticed.

A belt buckle. A snap hook. A ring. A piece of brass.

These components may seem secondary. Yet, they are handled every day, withstand the rigors of use, and contribute profoundly to the balance and character of an object.

It is for this reason that we have chosen to work with Maison Poursin.

A Parisian manufacturer since 1830

Founded in Paris in 1830, Poursin is one of those French houses that have weathered the ages by preserving a know-how that has become rare.

Its history is intimately linked to that of saddlery and harness making. At a time when Paris still boasted numerous specialized manufacturers, the House produced the metal parts required by saddlers: buckles, rings, snap hooks, and other functional elements.

Nearly two centuries later, this expertise naturally finds its place in the world of leather goods.

This continuity resonates particularly strongly with us at LAMIRAL: evolving an expertise without renouncing what gives it its value.

The choice of brass

For our creations, we have specifically chosen Poursin for their work with brass.

Dense, solid, and warm, brass has a presence that is immediately felt when you take the object in your hand. Its weight, its feel, and the depth of its finishes contribute to that sense of quality we strive for.

But we also value it for another reason: brass is a living material.

Over the years and with constant handling, its surface can evolve and develop a unique patina. Like leather, it accompanies the history of the object rather than seeking to remain artificially frozen.

Pairing beautiful leather with a genuine brass accessory creates a coherence of materials: two materials made to age together.

Details that are not just details

In our Graulhet workshop, every accessory is selected based on its shape, proportions, and finish, but also on the sensation it provides when handled.

A buckle must be beautiful, but above all, it must function perfectly.

A snap hook must offer sufficient strength while maintaining precise movement.

A ring must integrate naturally into the design of the bag without appearing as if it were simply added to it.

It is often through these elements that one distinguishes an object that is simply well-designed from one that is truly well-constructed.

From Paris to Graulhet

Partnering with Maison Poursin is also part of our desire to work, whenever possible, with French and European houses that possess their own unique expertise.

The accessories are manufactured in Paris, before arriving at our workshop in Graulhet, in the Tarn region, where they are combined with the leathers we have selected from our partner tanneries.

Thus, several crafts meet: that of the tanner, the accessory manufacturer, and the leatherworker.

Each works on a different part of the object, yet each contributes to its final quality.

Preserving what deserves to be preserved

Choosing Poursin goes beyond simply selecting a supplier.

It means working with a French house whose history dates back nearly two centuries. It means prioritizing specialized manufacturing. And it means participating, on our own scale, in the continuity of crafts that have become rare.

At LAMIRAL, we believe that an exceptional object is also the sum of everything that does not bear our name.

A tanner’s leather. A Riri zipper. A Poursin buckle. And then the hands of our artisans in Graulhet who bring these materials together.

Because when every detail is chosen to last, it ceases to be just a detail.
